Chiefly Speaking - May 2008
On May 4th there was a regional event held right here in Pittsburgh. This event was NLS (National Leadership Seminar). I would like to congratulate the 12 members of our Lodge that partook in this weekend long and vigorous training in order to not only help them to become a better leader in there day to day lives, but to also work to better the Lodge and the community with their newly acquired skills. During the 2008 Family Banquet held Saturday, March 15, 2008 at Peters Township High School, the 2008 Vigil Honor Class was named for Vigil Class Honoree Fr. James Richard Orr.

Any member of the Order Of The Arrow registered in scouting and in good standing with their Lodge is eligible for recommendation for elevation to the Vigil Honor, provided that the individual has been a brotherhood member for a minimum of two years.

However, the Vigil Honor is a distinction worn proudly and more than just a handsomely decorated certificate. The Vigil Honor is the highest level an individual can receive in the Order Of The Arrow, and it is also the hardest to achieve. In no manner is tenure in scouting or the order reason to receive the Vigil Honor. It is an award in which written rules do not determine and individuals qualifications for, but rather what the actions that he or she performs. Calling all Arrowmen to the 2008 OA Family Banquet!

Why: Come and enjoy a fantastic evening of fun and fellowship as we usher in a new year with Enda Lechauhanne Lodge 57. This year's event promises to be the most concise and entertaining ever!
Cost: $18 per person includes Dinner and a special edition collector's patch to celebrate the 15th anniversary of our Lodge. This patch is part of a set and can only be obtained with your paid registration.

Orders are now being accepted for official Enda Lechauhanne sanctioned clothing. Hats, sweatshirts, hooded sweatshirts, and t-shirts are available. All items will identify you as a Brother in our Lodge.

Order deadline is February 3, 2008. Orders will be available for pickup at the Family Banquet on March 15, 2008 or can be shipped for an additional charge.

Attention all Scoutmasters, it's time to request your 2008 Home Troop Election for ordeal candidates. A representative from your Chapter will conduct elections at an upcoming troop meeting in either February, March, or April.

Requests will be scheduled on a first come, first served basis. Deadline for requests is February 28, 2008.

Winterfest is almost upon us. On the 25th to the 27th of January, our weekend full of fun and fellowship will arrive. This is a great chance to meet fellow Brothers. This is also when you will get to see some of the best food from the Commissary Committee that you can imagine that is as always in accordance with the theme of the weekend. The Enda Casino will be open for business, so don't forget to bring your Enda bucks or find an opportunity to earn some as the weekend draws near. Deadline for ArrowCorps5 registration is December 31, 2007. As of the December 2nd Lodge meeting, we have 16 Arrowmen from our Lodge registered.

One thousand Arrowmen will descend upon Jackson, Wyoming for one week, beginning July 26, 2008, as the Order of the Arrow undertakes its largest service opportunity in Scouting history: ArrowCorps5.

ArrowCorps5 is a once in a lifetime program. The event is the largest volunteer service effort ever undertaken by the Boy Scouts of America. A Scout’s duty to country calls us all to help preserve the beauty of treasures like national forests. Read More...
